After more than three years of vacancy, the old Ace Hardware building at 1701 E. Center St., Warsaw, has been purchased and will become a state-of-the-art self-storage facility.
On Thursday, Swyft Group, 501 Argonne Road, Warsaw, announced on its Facebook page what was happening with the Ace Hardware building.
In the less than 2-minute video, Dean Avey of the Swyft Group says he received a “ton of questions” from businesses, media and individuals asking what was going on with the building.
He states that Swyft Group is a property management company located in northern Indiana.
“One of the things that excites us is finding properties that are either vacant or that haven’t been used much in the last few years and how to reallocate them,” he says.
The Ace Hardware property is one of the most recent projects of the Swyft Group.
“So we’ve seen a ton of growth in Warsaw. A ton of residential growth as people move here. Workers move here for local jobs, but not a lot of storage options for those moving here, ”he says. “So we are delighted to announce that this will be the new purpose of the old Ace Hardware building. “
The self-storage facility will be air conditioned, “super convenient, very well lit and will use some of the best technology in the industry,” he says. It will have a keyless and contactless entry for guests who wish to enter the property without speaking to anyone. Customers will be able to use their smartphone to enter.
“We think this will be a great addition to our community. Enthused by the work accomplished by our teams. We work with many entrepreneurs. We have talented companies here in Warsaw. I hope to show what they are doing, ”he says.
In July 2018, Ace Hardware owner Jim Maze announced that he and his wife, Bambi, were retiring and the business was shutting down. The roots of the company go back to 1869.
