by Netflix the witcher resumed production after a shutdown earlier this week, Redanian Intelligence, the Witcher news site reported. Production on season 3 came to an abrupt halt in the middle of filming the Thanedd Ball, the show’s most ambitious sequence, as the star Henry Cavill tested positive for COVID. The streamer told The Hollywood Reporter that filming “has come to a halt due to Covid, and we’ll be up and running as soon as it’s safe to do so.”
It looks like that time has come as several cast members have confirmed their return to the sets via Instagram Stories. Actor Mecia Simson, Cassie Claireand Harvey Quinn all shared several images ranging from heat jokes or poking fun at the Netflix label on a toilet, however, this certainly confirms that the show is back on its feet. Simon plays Francesca, Quinn is set to portray an undisclosed mage, and Clare plays Phillipa – all important characters to Thanedd’s ball and the coup plot that followed. However, it’s unclear if Geralt de Riv himself is back in action or not. Nonetheless, there are plenty of sequences during the ball that can be done in his absence.
Season 2 left us on a hopeful note as Ciri, Geralt, and Yennefer finally come together. However, the game-changing scene comes at the end when it’s revealed that the White Flame is none other than Ciri’s father, Duny, aka Emhyr Var Emreis, the Emperor of Nilfgaard.
Season 3 will follow the events of Andrzej Sapkowskiis the fourth Witcher book The time of contempt, which led to the disbanding of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers. The book explores the relationship between Ciri and Geralt as they learn more about the latter’s powers.
