The NuHealth Clinic may soon move to a new mixed-use building just down the street from its current location.
A building including both housing and clinic space has been proposed for the new site, according to pre-planning documents sent to the City of Vancouver.
The new location, at 515 E. McLoughlin Blvd., sits on approximately 5,800 square feet of land, which is zoned for community commercial development. It’s just a block and a half from the clinic’s current location at 1801 D St.
The property is owned by Dr Nadene Naele and Shane Wallack, who purchased it last year. Naele is a naturopathic doctor and owner of the NuHealth clinic.
The clinic offers a hydrotherapy treatment room, on-site laboratory and testing, automatic supplement delivery program, nutritional and dietary support, herbal and herbal remedies, homeopathy, nutritional supplements and unlimited kombucha, according to its website.
The building’s ground floor, 3,462 square feet, would house the naturopathic clinic, while the upper floor would provide 2,849 square feet of apartment space.
Plans currently call for four upper-floor apartments, with dedicated entrances on F Street.
The site provides two additional parking spaces, including a wheelchair accessible van parking space and a compact space. The proposal mentions that there are several parking spaces in the surrounding streets and bicycle parking spaces provided for the remaining parking lot.
A portion of the building that faces F Street will be built as a single apartment on a garage-style mixed-use space. This is intended to mimic the scale of residential buildings in the area.
Planning documents indicated that this part of the building would promote active space along F Street, enhance the visual interest of the building, and maintain a separation between its commercial functions on McLoughlin Boulevard and its residential functions along F Street. .
There is currently a single-family home on the property, which is surrounded by other homes and single-story commercial and commercial buildings. The house will be removed to make way for the new building.
