A sustainable construction company that is finishing its “MegaFactory” in Patterson has started hiring.

Based in Palo Alto S²A Modular announced plans for its new manufacturing facility in Patterson earlier this year. Construction began over the summer and the company has now started its first phase of hiring, which includes around 40 jobs.

The company eventually plans to hire some 250 people to staff the facility, including construction, sales, engineering and architectural positions. Factory workers will build high-tech and luxury single-family homes, apartment complexes and hotels.

The 100,000-square-foot plant is expected to open in the first quarter of 2022, officials said in a press release.

The first wave of hiring is looking for workers for its factory construction team, which will prepare the S²A MegaFactory for production. This includes electricians, plumbers, drywall installers, and other construction workers. Other open positions include managers and around 30 production assistants with experience in modular production lines and construction.

Positions are all full-time and experienced off-site pre-construction is encouraged. The starting salary for production assistants ranges from $ 24 to $ 30 per hour for production associates and up to $ 140,000 per year for managerial positions.

S²A Modular was founded in 2018 and manufactures smart and sustainable residential and commercial buildings. The constructions include solar panels, battery storage and energy management systems, which allow them to be self-sufficient outside the power grids and gas lines of utility companies.

All buildings are custom made and construction work is carried out in the factory rather than on the job site itself.

It is the second large off-site construction company in the region to build large-scale factories in Stanislaus County. In 2019, offsite timber framing company based in Ripon Entekra announced plans for its Modesto plant. The 200,000 square foot plant is located on East Whitmore Avenue, along the city’s southern border.

New S²A Modular Plant Relocates to Patterson Business Park near Interstate 5. Analysis by Opportunity Stanislaus indicates that the company’s move to the county could boost the regional economy by $ 85 million. dollars. Other large companies with distribution centers in Patterson include Amazon, Restoration Hardware, and Grainger.
