LinkedIn is stepping up its efforts in creating visual content

With the demand and popularity of video content increasing day by day, it’s no surprise that social media sites are struggling to attract and retain creators on their platforms.

LinkedIn, originally intended to help professionals network in an environment not really like social media, has become exactly that late. And it seems that LinkedIn wants to embrace even more the content creation engine that it has become. It announced that it will be rolling out new features to make it easier for creators to deploy visual content on its platform.

These features include allowing creators to add clickable links to images and videos, post templates, and carousels. These features should be rolling out to users in the coming weeks. This follows the discovery that the platform noted a 20% year-over-year (YoY) increase in the number of people adding visual content to their LinkedIn posts.

Let’s dive deeper into the latest features announced by LinkedIn:

1. Clickable links

One of the best things creators bring to the table is visual content, meaning content that is more than just dry text that makes up the bulk of the post. LinkedIn will, in the coming weeks, allow creators to add a clickable link directly to their videos and images to direct users to their websites, or other avenues such as upcoming events or recent newsletters.

If you want to add a clickable link, you need to create a new mobile post that contains a video or image. Next, click the “Add link” icon to add your URL and custom link text before posting.

2. Models come on LinkedIn posts

Those who want their text messages to stand out in a stream where most text messages look the same, templates are the feature you are looking for. You can easily tell a post with a template from a post without a template by the variety of backgrounds and fonts. You can even combine posts with models with clickable links to boost engagement, once the models are published over the next few weeks.

To create a publication with a Template, go to the sharing box or click on “Publish” on mobile. Then select “Use Template” to gain access to the dozens of customizable backgrounds and fonts LinkedIn will provide. Choose and add your text and click share.

3. Carousels

Last but not least, a new content format is coming to LinkedIn. Known as carousels, this will allow creators to combine images and videos as you present content in a “visually appealing” swipeable format. It’s coming to LinkedIn today, followed by other content sharing features coming “soon”.
