The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14. , at UAW Local Room 774 at 2939 Niagara Street, Tonawanda.
The show will highlight manufacturing and trade jobs at more than 20 local companies, including employers General Mills, E-One, the New York State Building & Construction Trades Council, the US Postal Service, the International Union of Painters and related trades and Milk-Os.
Ryan said, “The unemployment rate here in Western New York has improved to pre-pandemic levels, but we know there are still workers out there looking for a new opportunity. This event is a chance for these people to connect with some of our great local employers and learn about the jobs that are available in the manufacturing and commercial industries right now.
Conrad said, “Trades and manufacturing workers are the builders of the economy, the makers of the goods and products that literally keep us going. I am grateful to the DOL and UAW Local 774 for taking the lead in this effort to introduce our skilled workforce to the employers and opportunities available to them here in the western New York.
Rivera said, “The Buffalo Niagara Region has made great strides in strengthening our workforce and has begun to slowly recover from the effects of the pandemic. However, with the decrease in the workforce in our region, many employers are looking to fill positions. This event, organized in coordination with UAW Local 774, will provide potential candidates with opportunities and guidance, and highlight our region’s strong manufacturing and trade offerings.
