Leaked BMW XM production spec images: What to expect

BMW XM production specific images have been leaked. These images reveal that there may be minor styling changes, a distinctive and angular design from the BMW M concept of the XM SUV which was shown in November 2021. The XM is expected to be sold as an M car. – to be the only car before this one to claim this exclusivity of the 1978 M1 supercar.

In comparison to the XM concept, leaked patent images of the BMW vehicle reflect a smaller grille, with LED daytime running lights and a headlight configuration previously seen on the all-new 7 Series. These images also show a new center intake under the front grille with a prominent sensor for the SUV’s high-tech driver assistance systems. Other highlights also include reprofiled air curtains and fender flares at the front and traditional door handles as well as thicker pillars at the side.

The German automaker has confirmed that it will offer 23-inch M-spec alloy wheels as an option on the production XM. In comparison to the concept, these images show a repositioned quad-stacked exhaust system and redesigned taillights at the rear. Additionally, the images also reveal the re-profiled bumper and diffuser, while retaining the angular rear window.

The production BMW XM would use a plug-in hybrid powertrain designed around its new 4.4-liter V8 engine which is expected to be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This would further allow the XM to produce a combined 650hp and 800Nm of torque which will drive all four wheels via the M xDrive system.

BMW is expected to introduce a more powerful variant of the production XM which will produce 750hp and 1,000Nm as seen on the concept version. As a plug-in hybrid, the production-ready BMW XM is said to have an electric range of 80 kilometers under the WLTP cycle. It would also be equipped with an adaptive suspension and a new electromechanical roll establishment system with 48-volt technology.

As a reminder, BMW India has announced the launch of its X7 SUV, an exclusive new finish that will only be offered with the 40i M Sport variant. This SUV was priced at 1.2 Crores (ex-showroom) and the automaker are said to bring only 10 units of the X7 40i M Sports Jahre M Edition to India.
