Hillsborough County – Council honors manufacturers for their contribution to the local economy

Hillsborough County also introduces proclamations declaring Celebrate Babies Week and Pro Bono Week

Each year, the Board of County Commissioners recognizes October as Manufacturing Month, an event celebrated across the country. During this event, thousands of manufacturers across the country hold open houses and presentations that showcase cutting-edge manufacturing technology and career opportunities for job seekers.

The Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation at the October 19 meeting declaring October 7 as Florida Manufacturing Day and October as Florida Manufacturing Month in Hillsborough County. Accepting the proclamation was Shannon Sweatman, chief technology officer of Southern Manufacturing Technologies. Also in attendance were representatives from key industries that have helped Hillsborough County thrive, including Beth Galic, Executive Director of the Bay Area Manufacturers Association, Jeff Cole, President of AmSkills, and Peter Cirak, Director of Quality Assurance. from Seal Dynamics.

BOCC Introduces Manufacturing Month Proclamation

The Board of County Commissioners presents the proclamation to local manufacturers.

Galic thanked the council for the proclamation and for recognizing Florida’s manufacturing industry.

“The Bay Area Manufacturers Association advances manufacturing in Tampa Bay through workforce development, networking, education, advocacy and technology,” she said. “We will continue to support manufacturing in this area.”

The Board of County Commissioners also issued two proclamations declaring October 17 to October 21 as Celebrate Baby Week and from October 23 to October 29 as Volunteer Week.
