Building Products Supplier Will Create 37 New Jobs in Granville County ::

– Gov. Roy Cooper announced Wednesday that CertainTeed, a maker of roofing shingles and building materials, will create 37 new jobs in Granville County.

The 122-year-old company is investing $118.8 million to expand its existing factory in Oxford by adding 225,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

The average annual salary for the new positions is $66,930, which is higher than Granville County’s overall average annual salary of $45,096. The new jobs have the potential to create an annual payroll impact of more than $2.4 million, officials said.

CertainTeed is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, one of the largest manufacturing companies in the world.

“CertainTeed’s expansion is a great indicator of North Carolina’s manufacturing economy,” Cooper said. “Businesses in our state know the benefits of operating here, including our dedicated, well-trained workforce and excellent quality of life.”

As builders struggle to keep up with housing demand and people renovate their homes, there is a need for roof shingles and other materials produced by CertainTeed, including siding, fencing, decking , railings, woodwork, insulation, gypsum panels and ceilings.
